This season, our Garden to Market project has continued to flourish, not just in crops, but in confidence, dignity, and opportunity.
Designed to be simple, practical, and sustainable, the garden provides meaningful work for men and women who struggle to find employment due to limited education and literacy skills. Every aspect of the project is intentionally accessible, ensuring that participants can confidently manage, maintain, and grow the initiative themselves.
One exciting development has been our low cost hydroponics system. With support from friends who helped us get started, we introduced an easy to maintain method of growing fresh lettuce using foam boxes and carefully monitored water levels. This approach removes many of the financial and technical barriers often associated with hydroponics. Once harvested, new seedlings are prepared, creating a continuous cycle of growth.
What makes this project especially meaningful is that 100% of the revenue goes directly to the growers, divided equally among those who work in the garden. This creates fair income and is often the first step toward financial independence for single parents and vulnerable young adults.
Young Adults have been learning these practical skills, and even more importantly, they witnessed firsthand the value of hard work and teamwork.
With each seed planted, we are cultivating hope for a stronger, more self sufficient community.
Thank you for continuing to grow with us!!!
