Since October 2023, Israeli army has systematically targeted Gaza's health system destroying over 90% of hospitals, killing more than 1400 medical staff, and leaving over 160,000 injured-70% women and children. Around 25% of people have life-altering injuries, and more than 6,500 people have lost limbs, including an average of ten children daily. Consequently, Gaza now faces the highest number of amputees in the Middle East and the largest population of child amputees globally.
BASR is striving to meet the rising demand for prosthetics and orthotics by improving access for people with amputations, especially children, to high-quality, affordable, and customizable prosthetics using 3D printing technology. The organization is expanding its mobile outreach clinics across the West Bank and Gaza Strip, offering comprehensive care from assessment to rehabilitation.
