22.4 Million Hot Meals served during the war

Thank you for your generosity. Your support was pivotal in helping families in Gaza during the war.

During this time, Rebuilding Alliance carried out several key initiatives to assist families, including:

Our hot meals program, run in partnership with the World Food Programme (WFP), served a total of 22.4 million meals

The Winter Relief Program, launched in the winter of 2024, providing warm clothes and shoes to 7,664 individuals— our goal was to reach 1000 families and we did more

Distribution of 996 food parcels to families with malnourished children (being treated by physicians at Ard El Insan), through the summer as famine was declared

Assistance with evacuation for families, staff, and CBO partners by covering transportation costs, tents, and tarps
Driving mobile generators to pump the only potable wells in Gaza back when this year’s first ceasefire took place Jan-March 18, 2025

These initiatives were made possible through the dedication of our staff in Gaza and our community-based organization (CBO) partners, who worked under life-threatening and challenging conditions to bring relief to others. Our staff members received modest salaries for their efforts and from March 1-May 31, 2025 we paid all the staffing stipends for our CBO Partners while we kept the kitchens open under an ad-hoc food distribution from the WFP — and we fell short. Costs were higher than donations so we are paying these bills on monthly installments.

To assure that we never fall behind again, we created the Gaza GivingCart project to allow donors to choose the parcel they are gifting.

As our teams visit families to assess their needs, it is heartbreaking to see the new emergencies. The cold, windy winter was entirely predictable. Rebuilding Alliance has an immediate shelter solution and also a transition Gaza Baytna House that uses rubble as the primary construction material. Our Board members are flying to meet with the U.S. Ambassador’s team in Jerusalem next week— we’re pressing forward with prototype shelter construction, and we’ll go to full production as soon as possible.

Food parcels delivered to 500 families in Gaza, thanks to you!

Great News! Because of your support, our team in Gaza was finally able to deliver 500 food parcels to families with malnourished children on August 19th. We had planned to start this distribution right after July Bonus Day, when the funds were raised. But because food became extremely hard to find and prices went up sharply, we had to delay until now.

Our team delivered 142 to Gaza and the northern governorate, 186 to Deir Al Balah, and 172 to Khan Younis. Each parcel was filled with nourishing staples, including potatoes, chicken stock, tahini, vegetable oil, chickpeas, sugar, rice, beans, feta cheese, pasta, and, most importantly, flour.

The joy on people’s faces as they received these parcels means everything to us; it is what keeps us going, and we know it means the same for you, too. Thank you for making this possible.

Among the families who received support was 9-year-old Hala from Jabalia. Her home was destroyed, leaving her family displaced and struggling with very difficult living conditions. Hala shared with us that her twin brother, Mohammed, is suffering from severe malnutrition and extreme weakness, and their family cannot afford the food or care he urgently needs. For Hala’s family, this parcel brought more than just food; it was a reminder that they are not forgotten.

One of the families we reached was that of baby Qasem, just one year old, who is battling severe malnutrition. His mother shared, with heavy sorrow, that she has no way to provide him with the proper food he needs. For months, his survival has depended almost entirely on small portions of nutritional supplements like peanut butter. On top of this, she also cares for her 9-year-old son, making the family's struggle much harder. When she received the food parcel, it was more than just essential nutrition. For her, it brought a sense of comfort and the reassurance that she is not fighting this battle alone.

The family of Sabrin and Mostafa also received a parcel. Their older sister shared that both babies are suffering from malnutrition. When they see other children in the camp drinking milk or eating, they ask for some too, but their family simply can’t afford it. Their mother is speech-impaired, and their father was injured in the war and can no longer provide for them. With food prices rising beyond reach, even basic items like milk and bread have become impossible for the family to buy. The whole family was happy to receive the food parcel. The food parcel is a glimmer of hope for a family trapped in unbearable circumstances, where even the most basic needs for survival are out of reach.

Arjwan is a young girl whose health is very fragile due to malnutrition. She’s lost weight and suffers from repeated intestinal infections caused by unsafe water. Her family is doing everything they can to care for her, but every day is a struggle just to survive. Receiving the food parcel gave them a small moment of relief in the middle of so much hardship. Her family was forcibly displaced and now lives in extremely difficult conditions. Her father told us he has no income and can’t afford milk or diapers for Arjwan. Her mother, who is nine months pregnant, is also malnourished and often faints from weakness and lack of food.

Our team in Gaza also delivered a parcel to Sham’s family. One-year-old Sham is suffering from severe malnutrition. Her mother told us that Sham cannot stand or walk and has not yet grown a single tooth. There’s no milk to feed her. The family’s struggles extend far beyond food. They are displaced, living with five other families in a single crowded classroom. They hardly have anything to eat. The children are often sick.

Lamis is just 10 years old, but her body shows the effects of malnutrition. Her family was one of 500 in Gaza who received a food parcel from our team. Her father says their situation feels like being close to death. They don’t even have the most basic things. Lamis needs healthy food like chicken, meat, and vitamins—but they can’t afford any of it. Because she’s not getting the nutrition she needs, her health is getting worse. She’s always hungry, which has slowed her growth and made it hard for her to focus and learn new things.

These food parcels brought hope and relief to these families who are doing everything they can to keep their children alive. Thank you!

Helping families with malnourished children

Parcels for families with malnourished children

For the past 1 year and 7 months, Rebuilding Alliance’s kitchen teams have been feeding tens of thousands of people every day in Gaza. In total, as of May 31st, our community kitchens have served 22.5 Million meals.

Up until May 31st, our eight remaining kitchens were serving 27,000 meals each day, across Gaza. They were forced to stop when food supplies finally ran out. No rice. No lentils. No oil. Nothing to cook with.

Our teams held on as long as they could. Even when bombings shook the ground around them. Even when they faced displacements, one after another. Even when they had to make impossible choices about who to feed first. But now, they can’t cook anymore. Because aid is barely coming through, and families are starving.

To respond to the growing needs of Gaza families when the war began in October 2023, Rebuilding Alliance, which was already serving 4000 hot meals per week, expanded its hot meals program. when the war began. Our kitchens were operated by local community-based organization partners.

From November 2023 until the final shutdown in May 2025, our kitchens persevered under siege. Our brave CBO partners and their staff members and volunteers cooked through extreme hardship and danger. They continued operating even when ingredients were scarce, cooking with whatever was available locally or provided from the World Food Programme.

Still, we are not giving up. While our kitchens can no longer operate, our team in Gaza delivered food parcels to 496 families with acute malnourished children. These families were identified by Ard Al Insan, a distinguished pediatric association in Gaza and long-time partner of Rebuilding Alliance, who is providing nutrition supplements to these children in crisis.

Each parcel contains enough food to support an entire family, carefully packed to stretch as long as possible. When our kitchens were open, families received hot meals daily at distribution points. Now, we are doing our best to continue reaching the most vulnerable through parcels.

We are ready and determined to expand beyond 496 families as soon as funding and access allow. We need your help to fund the emergency food distribution.
