Not all chains are made of metal...

By Guardians of Rescue Team | Project Leader

Dear Friends of Guardians,

We have called our project “Getting Dogs Off Chains”, because we do that very thing non-stop. But we not only get dogs off chains literally, we get them—and other animals—off the chains of hoarding, puppy mills, all kinds of neglect and abuse, and even natural disasters. We bring dogs and cats, rescued and loved by military members being sent home from countries where animals are considered vermin, back to the US to save their lives and maintain their human-animal bonds.

While we periodically keep you up to date on the dogs taken off metal chains and ropes and either made real family members, rehomed, or provided with secure and warm outdoor enclosures, we want you to know that Guardians of Rescue is much more. We have also gotten thousands of animals out of those symbolic chains of abuse and neglect.

For example, recently Guardians got a desperate call to rescue 21 tiny dogs from  hoarding nightmare in Kentucky.

When we arrived, Guardians and local Animal Control discovered 21 chihuahuas living in squalor, mold, and the overpowering smell of urine. These little dogs had been suffering for some time with eye issues, fleas, overgrown nails, and general neglect. We can only imagine living like this, day after day, with no relief in sight. But help came, thanks to our supporters, the dogs are safe and cared for and the owner of the dogs has been charged with animal cruelty. Despite what they've been through, the dogs are all very sweet and though they might not know it yet, their new happy lives have already begun.

With so many animals in recent cases, and ongoing costs for those, our resources are thinly stretched. To be able to continue helping animals we really need and appreciate your support in getting dogs and other animals off chains, both real and figurative. Either way, you save and uplift lives, and we could not be more grateful.

Together we save them,

All of Us at Guardians of Rescue
