Sight is Everything

By Carly | Project Leader

Hello Supporters,

It has been a busy few months here at Eyes of Africa, quietly focused on getting children to and from their follow-up appointments after failing eye tests earlier this year. We are now raising funds for a new testing machine, and with a full schedule lined up for December and 2026, we are 100% steam ahead with our fundraising!

Our mission is simple but powerful: every child deserves to see clearly and learn without limitations. This work aligns closely with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those addressing health, education, equality, and poverty reduction.

Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3)
By tackling preventable visual impairment through screenings, diagnosis, and corrective glasses, we help prevent avoidable blindness and improve children’s overall well-being. Clear vision allows them to engage fully in daily life, enhancing both physical and mental health.

Quality Education (SDG 4)
Poor eyesight can hinder learning. By correcting vision problems, we help children read, focus, and build confidence in school. Better sight today leads to higher academic achievement tomorrow and opens doors for lifelong learning.

No Poverty (SDG 1)
Education is key to breaking the cycle of poverty. By enabling children to see and learn, we are giving them tools to secure better opportunities and a brighter future.

Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10)
We serve children in disadvantaged and rural communities, providing free or affordable vision care to those who need it most. This work reduces inequality in access to healthcare and education, giving every child a fair chance.

Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17)
Through collaboration with schools, communities, and corporate partners, we strengthen partnerships that help advance sustainable development and expand the reach of our programs.

Thanks to supporters like you, children are seeing clearly and taking steps toward a brighter, healthier future. We are excited to continue this work and hope you will join us in making a real difference.

We are also proud to be part of the Action Change Impact Advent Calendar this year. By purchasing your calendar today, starting December 1st, you’ll support 24 amazing projects like ours, spreading hope, care, and impact every day of the season. https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/advent-2025/

Thank you for helping children see, learn, and thrive.
