Beatrice, born in 2002, refused to let early motherhood and limited academic opportunities define her future. After completing secondary school in 2021 amid COVID-19 disruptions, she was unable to proceed to college due to her grades and family circumstances.
Instead, Beatrice chose a practical path forward. Through the Girls for the Future Project, she enrolled in a salon and beauty therapy apprenticeship, where she gained hands-on skills in braiding, manicure and pedicure, barbering, and cosmetology.
Today, Beatrice is employed at a local beauty shop, working with cosmetics, braids, and wigs. While she is still finding her footing, she has a clear vision: to open her own beauty shop.
With startup support for basic equipment, products, and space, she would be able to build a stable income and create opportunities for other girls with similar skills who are struggling to find work.
An investment in Beatrice is an investment in self-reliance, dignity, and local employment. When young women like Beatrice are given the chance to move from skill to ownership, the impact extends beyond one life to families, peers, and the wider community.
