You have helped the Lambi Fund and its partners in the Northwest of Haiti reach beyond its set goals of 20 cisterns. We have begun the construction of 10 more cisterns with a dimension 18 cubic meter for 4,500 gallons of water each. The power of the human spirit surpasses overwhelming challenges and make things happen. In this instance it is despite the failure of institutions and woeful neglect of administrators that we, in collaboration and partnership with you and rural community dwellers, have surpassed our goal.
The locality of Mawotye, in the seventh section of Port De Paix, will receive 45,000 gallons of water. The beneficiaries resides in small localities of : Kolombye, Nan Sonde, Dieu Ki Bay,Odije, Manvaz, Mago, Pilet, Kavaz, Espre and Vye Joupa. People of Mawotye are active participants. They have been gathering and breaking in small pieces the stone to make the gravel necessary for the foundation and walls that will provide the life source, water. They also volunteer their times to carry all construction materials such as cement, bricks and steel metal; water for mortar and repairing walkways and roads to make way for construction vehicles to reach the selected sites. You see the Lambi fund works in the most remote and vulnerable areas and often here are no formal roads to reach destination.
While constructing the cisterns we have the challenge of rising inflation (12.5%) and thus rising cost of construction. A 100lbs cement container has risen from HTG65 to HTG105 nearly 161% increase in cost.
We are able to add 10 cisterns because of the will and sharing of People like you. We are so grateful for your partnership, your trust and your capacity to share in the crutial gift of water for life.
TOGETHER WE SAY THANK YOU. CHAPO BA!
