Because you care lives changed! The amazing thing about it is that we will not go back there because not only the strategy comes from the locality that faced the challenge, they together work to maintain the viability of the activity for long term.
Cisterns for gathering water is sustainable. The community is organized to share the resource that is water. They have shape a process for surveillance, cleanliness and the gathering of water. They share the water with all community dwellers and the residents contribute a token (1 gourde) per gallon or pail obtained. That contribution provides payment to hire a person that is responsible for maintenance, test the potability of the water and assure that the cisterns is cleaned periodically. Lambi Fund has trained community dwellers, members of the organization to deliver these tasks.
People are saying: "Nou gen dlo" (We got water). They raise their hands up in praise. I hve been there sitting with the women in Lakoma and Didyet are not walking for hours to find a pail of water. Water is within reach. With the rain, they have water more abundantly.
The Lambi fund in Haiti will continue to partner with those who have taken charge in rural Haiti. We also seek partnership with those who are conscious that we are the change we dream and endeavor to make change for all because we are one world, ultimately.
Together our partners and the Lambi fund team say thank you to Global giving for the opportunity and thank you to you for your generosity. You touched a life and that life has a lasting gratitude that is indelible.
Together we can continue to make differences accross Worlds and Oceans!
Thanks again.
