An update on your donation to the Community Aid Fund

First, we want to thank you for your incredible generosity. As cuts to foreign aid continue to impact communities worldwide, your gift is already helping bridge the fund gaps facing local nonprofits who are determined to keep showing up for their communities.

We are excited to share that we have recently awarded an additional 17 grants from the Community Aid Fund to vetted local nonprofit partners in eight countries.

These trusted GlobalGiving partners have demonstrated exceptional impact in their communities despite facing significant funding cuts. These organizations are deeply rooted in countries and regions where recent aid cuts have been the most prominent and devastating.

As one partner put it, "This grant could not come at a better time as we feel the impact of the cuts and are working hard to fill the gap.”

Your donation is already in action—here are a few examples of how:

  • In Afghanistan, your support is strengthening organizations like Action for Development as they respond to a worsening healthcare crisis. Due to funding cuts, 15 health centers in Kabul have already been forced to  close. Despite these challenges—and severe restrictions on training women as nurses and midwives—the organization continues to train midwives, expand access to maternal care, and support healthcare facilities providing primary care.

  • In the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the Collective of Youth Organizations for Solidarity continues to be one of the few remaining resources for refugees and internally displaced people in North Kivu to access shelter, small business capital, legal support, and many other services. While  many other humanitarian organizations have withdrawn due to safety concerns, the Collective remains committed because the Congo is their home, and the people they serve are their community members. Your support ensures they can continue providing emergency relief in a region where institutional systems have collapsed.

  • In Gaza, the Women Affairs Center is working under unimaginable conditions of violence and loss to deliver life-saving hygiene kits, food, water, psychological first aid training, and medicine to women and children. Your support provides more flexibility and stability for the organization and those it serves as they face such a dire situation.

  • In Uganda, health services have been devastated by the recent funding cuts. Kawempe Home Care was forced to suspend the majority of staff and projects related to testing and medical support for TB, HIV, cancer, and pregnant HIV-positive mothers. While its smaller team has maintained medication distribution and kept their children's cancer hostel open, your support helps them recover critical operations and programs—especially their HIV-related work.

As funding cuts and disruptions continue, your gift ensures that affected organizations can adapt and respond to meet the shifting needs of their communities. As one nonprofit partner shared, "Your financial support is a source of encouragement for our mission to bring smiles back to people in precarious situations. We deeply thank you for the trust and support you place in us."

GlobalGiving remains deeply committed to listening directly to our nonprofit partner community and evolving the strategy of the Community Aid Fund to respond to the changing aid landscape. We will also soon be mobilizing more flexible funding to local organizations at the forefront of HIV prevention, care, and treatment—a sector that has been gutted by the funding cuts. Please expect another email update from our team very soon on this topic.

Thank you again for your generosity and for standing in solidarity with local communities during these difficult times.

With deep gratitude,

Allyson + the GlobalGiving team
