Quarter 2 Update in Kruger!

By Morgan Domijan | Fundraising Manager

Quarter 2 has been busy in the Greater Kruger area, capturing and analyzing all the photos from the various camera traps. In Quarter 2 alone, we captured 54,715 photos and of those photos, 656 of these photos were nocturnal and/or elusive species. In Quarter 1 we had only captured 301 photos of nocturnal and/or elusive species. In Quarter 2, we have more than doubled these photos of these secretive species. The sheer number of camera trap images we have collected of these nocturnal mammals truly shows how much scope there is for research on these species.

Additionally, our team on ground has been really busy hosting external fundraisers for this project. In return, during the month of May we were able to purchase 10 additional camera traps and accessories which will increase our photo intake and consecutive research on these species.

Finally, in June, we have re-assessed all of camera traps, SD cards and accessories to make sure the camera traps are fully at work and capturing all the photos we need. These camera traps will be distributed evenly across the area so we can get the best results possible.

We are so thankful for all of our donors and are excited to really push this campaign to maximize our research efforts. On August 12th is Global Giving's little by little campaign where they are matching donations! Please do help us spread the word as every little donaton helps!
