Deep in the Guatemalan rainforest, the village of El Remate is "off the beaten track" and overlooked by the tourism passing through. We support a vital sanctuary providing the region's only consistent medical clinic, dental suite, and educational hub. By providing everything from emergency medicine to digital literacy, we are equipping 400 families with the tools they need for long-term independence and health. This community doesn't need much to live and just. need a helping hand for change.
Isolation is the greatest barrier for these jungle communities. Many families live in jungle homes and have historically had no access to books or modern medicine. Nobody in the community could read before 2019. Since the pandemic, the flow of donated medical supplies from abroad has dried up, leaving our pharmacy and lab struggling to serve the families who rely on them. Without sustainable funding, this community risks losing its only lifeline to essential healthcare and quality education.
We are here to empower and equip the community for the long term, moving beyond temporary aid. Our medical center offers a pharmacy and lab, while our unique dental partnership operates 8 chairs to serve the entire region. Across the road, our educational center provides a library and a computer studio with specialized learning software. Your support ensures these services remain permanent and helps us fund our next goal: a dedicated performing arts studio for the village youth.
This project advances the UN Sustainable Development Goals by creating a holistic safety net for the Selva Maya. We support SDG 3 (Good Health and Wellbeing) through our clinical and dental care, SDG 4 (Quality Education) by providing the village's only access to digital tools and literacy, and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) by empowering an isolated rural community with the resources they need to thrive, ensuring they remain resilient and self-sufficient for generations to come.
