The Hand to Hand foundation is currently caring for over 200 children who live in poverty in Pattaya Thailand. The proceeds from this years bike ride will enable us to purchase food, medicine, school supplies as well as feild fees for our soccer club. Riders are aged 4yrs(32KM) to 62 yrs (600km) and we will ride for 16 days in November from 2nd- 17th around Pattaya.
There are currently at least 140 slum communities in Pattaya where people suffer from extreme poverty without adequate access to food, water, power and housing. This project will go towards addressing the nutritional needs of underprivileged families and the elderly in Pattaya City slums. Donations will ensure that the children attending the Hand to Hand preschool and Kids club receive at least one nutritious meal a day, essential school supplies and also feild fees for our free soccer program.
The basic nutritious food supplied will go a long way to ensuring better health for the families who are helped on a weekly basis by the hand to hand Foundation. We distribute approximately 1 ton of rice per week! Better health will give the adults and children directly affects their ability to work and study as well as mental health. Our soccer program, kid's club and preschool programs are all free for the children and these are essential services for them.
There are thousands of people living in slums in Pattaya Thailand and there is little or no social insurance and the assistance from the government. Many families struggle to make ends meet and this has resulted in Thailand have one of the highest suicide rates in South East Asia. Hand to Hand provides support to families so that they do not abandon their children into orphanages due to poverty. Simple measures such as food security and education keep people alive and children in families.
