In Colombia, lockdown in response to COVID-19 has caused an increase in violence against women and families. As often happens during emergencies, the “shadow pandemic” of domestic violence has spiked and paramilitary activity is on the rise — leaving children at great risk.
Your support helps keep children safe. For example, our partner Taller de Vida (TdV) tapped into the strength we’ve built together over years of partnership and urged the government to provide additional protection for children during the COVID-19 crisis to ensure that those in vulnerable areas remain safe. TdV is also developing a psychosocial support plan for teachers and community leaders to help them respond at the local level and meet community needs. They’re also distributing hygiene supplies and face masks. And during all of this, TdV remains in constant communication with the children they support and have taught them how to do their part in helping to keep their families and communities safe. TdV’s resilience shines in their holistic and thoughtful approach to keep their communities and kids safe. Thank you for making this life saving work possible!
