Dear Friends
Thanks to the generosity of donors through GlobalGiving’s Passport to Purpose campaign in September, we raised US $4,351, covering 25% of the required funding to continue our cancer awareness and screening work in the coming year. This support is crucial as we expand outreach to women in villages near our clinic in Ubud.
Since this project launched in August, Bumi Sehat’s team has held monthly workshops in nearby villages — offering culturally sensitive talks, demonstrations, and easy-to-read materials about breast and cervical cancer awareness, prevention, and the importance of early screening.
At the Ubud clinic, our staff conducted 547 screenings for cervical and breast cancer. Of those screened, 51 women (9.3%) were found to have potentially cancerous cells and received on-site cryogenic therapy; additionally, 11 women showing possible breast lumps have been referred for biopsy and specialist care.
These numbers underscore the urgent need and real impact of early-detection outreach. By giving women knowledge, reducing stigma, and providing affordable screening and follow-up care, we are catching potentially life-threatening conditions early — when treatment is most effective. With sustained funding, we aim to expand and continue offering this essential service to more women across Bali.
with love and gratitude,
Ibu Robin and Team Bumi Sehat
