This project will fund essential medical services-including general medicine, gynecology, pediatrics, and vaccinations-at COIN's clinic in Santo Domingo, to support Haitian children, youth, and women who have lost access to public healthcare due to recent immigration policy changes in the Dominican Republic.
A new government protocol in the Dominican Republic has excluded undocumented Haitian migrants, especially women, children, and youth, from accessing public healthcare services. Pregnant women are being denied prenatal care, children miss out on vaccines, and families are left untreated. At the same time, COIN's clinic has lost major funding, limiting its ability to meet the urgent health needs of this vulnerable and growing population.
COIN's clinic will provide general medicine, pediatric care, gynecological services, and vaccines to Haitian women, youth, and children who are excluded from public healthcare. Trained medical staff will offer respectful, culturally appropriate, trauma-informed, rights-based care, helping over 1,000 people access essential health services safely and consistently.
By restoring essential healthcare services, this project will improve the long-term health and well-being of over 1,000 Haitian children, women, and youth. Access to vaccines, prenatal care, and regular medical attention will prevent disease, reduce maternal and infant mortality, and promote early intervention. Strengthening COIN's clinic also helps build lasting community trust and resilience in vulnerable populations.
