Summary

Access to quality education is not a privilege-it is a universal right, a beacon of hope, and a powerful catalyst for change. Yet in many remote and impoverished regions of Sri Lanka, this right remains out of reach. This project will address these urgent challenges by supporting rural students and their schools with essential resources. Our goal is to ensure that every child -regardless of geography or income-has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.

Challenge

In Sri Lanka's rural heartlands, education is often seen as the only pathway to a better future. Yet for thousands of children living in remote and economically disadvantaged communities, this path is increasingly obstructed by hardship. One of the most pressing issues is the affordability of school essentials, which have seen price increases of over 200% in recent years. For families already living below the poverty line, these costs are simply unaffordable.

Solution

TF will provide resources to help rural students who face economic hardships and are challenged to attend school, and also to raise the bar. Donating essential school items will help relieve the parents of their issue to support their children with their education, who would have otherwise been pushed to stop schooling. Donating other resources to rural schools will ease the pressures the authorities face to raise their standards and have the basic needs of the school met.

Long-Term Impact

The project will support rural students with their education and rural schools to help meet their basic requirements. We expect these initiatives to help reduce the widening gap in standards between remote rural schools and urban schools. Additionally, raising standards will enable these students to receive a well-rounded education, supporting better employment opportunities and ultimately helping them lift themselves out of poverty.
