Rebuilding Hope After the Bukavu Fire
Humanitarian Project Report
Help 2,000 Families Rebuild After Bukavu Fire
1. Background and Project Rationale
On August 26, a devastating fire struck the Cimpunda and Mosala neighborhoods of Bukavu, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. More than 1,000 homes were reduced to ashes, leaving nearly 2,000 families without shelter, food, or any means of survival.
Women, children, and elderly people are sleeping in the open, exposed to disease, insecurity, and extreme hardship, just days before the new school year. With no public safety net or government assistance, these families have been left to rebuild their lives from nothing.
In response to this urgent humanitarian crisis, our organization launched this project to address immediate needs while laying the foundation for long-term recovery.
2. Overall Objective
To provide emergency humanitarian assistance to over 2,000 vulnerable families affected by the Bukavu fire, restoring dignity, protecting children, and supporting the recovery of community life.

6. Implementation Approach
The project is built on a community-centered approach. Trained local volunteers, closely connected to the affected population, will support beneficiary identification and aid distribution.
The project is scheduled to begin in November 2025, following the completion of the identification process for trainers and learners involved in recovery-related activities.
7. Project Budget
8. Expected Results and Impact
This project goes beyond emergency relief. It helps break the cycle of poverty worsened by disasters and restores hope for future generations.
9. Transparency and Accountability
Our organization is committed to responsible fund management, rigorous activity monitoring, and regular reporting to partners and donors. Collaboration with GlobalGiving ensures high standards of transparency and trust.
10. Call to Action for Donors
Today, these families need you. Every contribution—large or small—can turn a night on the streets into shelter, a child out of school into a student, and despair into hope.
We call on individuals, organizations, and partners to stand with us and help these families rebuild their future.
11. Acknowledgments
We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who believes in this humanitarian mission and stands with the families of Bukavu.
Thank you to our partners, GlobalGiving, our volunteers, and all current and future donors. Your solidarity brings light where there were only ashes.
Together, we can rebuild lives and restore hope.
