Your kind act helped Kiran become covid-19 hero

By Julia Matthew | Managing Director

Dear Patrons,

Hope you & your family are safe and sound

The COVID-19 pandemic poses destructive risks for women and girls in delicate and conflict-affected contexts. Some areas, families have no access to food and personal protective equipment. Families are generally earning less, saving less, and holding insecure jobs or living close to poverty. El Shaddai has established a support system for the marginalized families by providing them with monthly rations and hygiene kit in order to respond to the pandemic as well as avoid disturbance of other health services. This drive has made great impacts in the lives of thousands of slum dwellers and marginalized workers. Kiran is one of our beneficiaries.

Kiran hails from a very poor background. Her husband is alcoholic and abusive. Kiran is the sole earner of the family and has 3 children whom she has admitted in El Shaddai where they are offered comfort, companionship, nourishing food, Education and the possibility of a secure future since it is difficult for her to do so due to her financial instability. We have also given Kiran an opportunity to work with us in one of our shelter as a Field Worker so that she can become financially independent. In order to protect Kiran and her family from the corona pandemic, El Shaddai has taken the initiative to supply monthly ration and hygiene kit. Kiran’s joy on seeing bag full of groceries in the house during this difficult time could not be compared to anything.Today Kiran is very happy because now her family's food security has been ensured and that she has been employed even during the hard times. Today she neither has to depend on her abusive husband nor the family to meet her basic needs.

Kiran is very grateful for El Shaddai and all our wonderful donors, as she is able to eat three meals happily because of your generous and continuous support. Your kind act at a time of widespread health catastrophe has won hearts of many women like Kiran. If you like to regularly engage in this Endeavour and project, we encourage you start a monthly recurring donation for a small amount, which will go a long way in giving them a bright future. El Shaddai
