El Shaddai provides programs and services that meet the needs and challenges of socially and economically disadvantaged women and girls and prepares them for personal, career, and economic success.
Through our Community Centres and shelters we provide various vocational trainings in Mehendi, Tailoring, Crochet, Computers, and Adult literacy. Every day we have 130 women and girls attending these courses. These courses have proved beneficial to many Girls and women.
We feel truly proud to see that many of the women and girls who attended our courses are doing marvellously well.
One such incredible story of success is of Sakshi (name changed), a 22-year-old woman who migrated to Goa along with her parents and sibling. Her father is a daily wage manual worker and often goes without a job. She completed her level 10 schooling and wished to study more, but she was unable to do so due to financial constraints.
One day, she was approached by the El Shaddai outreach workers and was informed about the “Ashraya Community Centre” and how the vocational classes conducted there changed her life. She readily agreed and the next day she stepped on her new journey of learning. She joined the tailoring classes and in a few days learnt various stitching techniques and designs and completed her tailoring course. Her work was so appreciated by one and all that she decided to start her own tailoring trade. She gets so many offers now stitching clothes, is financially secure, and can look after her family too. She also plans to continue her Academic journey for she feels that “Learning is an ongoing process”.
There are many women like her who have a lot of dreams, ambitions and want to be independent. We want to help many such women and girls to recognize their true calling and find purpose in their life.
With your support, we will be able to aid in the empowerment of girls and women to contribute to transforming society positively and impacting positive change. When women are empowered to reach their full potential, the positive changes they make for themselves radiate throughout their families and communities.
