Dear Friend,
Women empowerment is not just about promoting women's rights; it is about creating a fair and just society for all. When women are empowered, they contribute to economic growth, social progress, and peace-building efforts. It is a collective responsibility to challenge patriarchal norms, dismantle systemic barriers, and create an environment where women can thrive.
Education is a fundamental pillar of women's empowerment. When girls are educated, they gain knowledge, confidence, and skills to pursue their dreams and make informed choices. It equips them to challenge societal norms, break free from oppressive cycles, and become agents of change in their communities.
At El Shaddai, we believe that when we invest in girl’s education, societies empower future generations and foster sustainable development.
Through our Homes, shelters and community centres, we empower girls and women to get proper education and learn vocational training skills like tailoring, sewing, mehendi, crochet and computer skills. We have around 200 girls and women who attend these vocational trainings in our community centres. These women come from poor backgrounds, where there is no proper shelter, and no food, and often they have to face harassment from family members. Many of them want to study further, learn a skill, or take up a job but have no means of doing so. At El Shaddai, we make all such things possible.
We have a story of a woman named Malti (Name changed) who was often harassed by her husband and in-laws. She thought about leaving her home but then wondered how she would survive in this world. One day she met one of our outreach workers at a medical camp which was held at our community centres. She was informed about the vocational training that was conducted there. She decided to join these programmes and found an interest in Mehendi art and she learnt the skill so well that she was able to get bridal orders from many. She decided to take this art form as her career and step out into a world full of hopes and dreams.
There are many such girls and women who just want a helping hand and change their lives for the better. It is through the unwavering support and commitment of sponsors like you that we can continue to uplift and empower women in our community.
Together, we are creating a ripple effect of positive change that extends far beyond the individuals we directly reach.
Let us celebrate the achievements of empowered women and work together to build a future where gender equality is not just a dream but a reality.
With gratitude,
El Shaddai Charitable Trust
