One Year On: Hope After the Floods

By Joey Owen | CEO

The devastating effects of the 2024 floods
The devastating effects of the 2024 floods

One year on from the terrifying floods and landslides of September 2024, our project to support flood-affected families in Kavre, Nepal has now successfully concluded, having fulfilled its mission to provide urgent relief and longer-term recovery support to those most impacted by the devastating floods.

Thanks to the generosity of donors and the tireless work of local partners, we were able to deliver essential supplies including food, clean water, hygiene kits and temporary shelter materials to over 200 families in the hardest-hit areas.

Beyond immediate aid, the project also supported community wellbeing and resilience with the Healing Hearts workshops, which are still ongoing, supporting parents to restore livelihoods and learning around strengthening local infrastructure to better withstand future disasters.

As the project closes, we are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed. Your support made a tangible difference in the lives of vulnerable families during a time of crisis.

The community in Panauti and Bethanchok has shown, once again, remarkable strength and solidarity. We are proud to continue to work with this community that, in the last 25 years, has fared a ten-year civil war, the devastating earthquakes of 2015, the health and economic crisis of COVID-19, the floods last year and now the demonstrations and political upheaval of recent weeks.

Our friends and colleagues continue to inspire us with apparently unlimited strength and resilience.

While this specific initiative has come to an end, the impact will continue through the improved living conditions, renewed hop, and strengthened community networks that emerged from this collective effort.

Thank you for your support.
