Dear Friends,
Nyalenda community has been experiencing perennial flooding exposing our people to flooding and displacement every year.
since the onset of the long rains which started in March,2025 to date, our region has experienced minimal flooding, thanks to the earlier government interventions, including the construction of gabions and de silting of rivers. These proactive measures significantly reduced the impact of the rains,ensuring the safety and stability of most communities in flood prone areas.
despite this progress, a small number of 100 individuals were still affected by localized flooding.in response the James Were Fiundation stepped in to offer immediate support by distributing essential foodstusss to the affected families to help them cope during this period.
the fiundation remains committed to complementing government efforts and standing with the community during times of need.
