When we first shared Keep the Arc of Social Justice Bending in RSA, it was with a vision both humble and bold — to play our part in ensuring that compassion, fairness, and inclusion continue to shape the future of South Africa. We hoped to rally support for the work of Embrace Village and its partners in building communities of care, where vulnerable families and children could experience dignity and opportunity.
Although this particular project did not gain financial traction on GlobalGiving, we are deeply grateful for the platform it provided to share our vision. Fundraising for justice-oriented, long-term work is never simple. It requires not only resources, but faith — in people, in process, and in the belief that small, faithful acts of care do, indeed, shift the larger story.
What we hold onto
While this campaign did not reach its financial goals, the spirit behind it continues to inform everything we do. The work of social justice often happens in quiet, uncelebrated ways — in classrooms, counselling rooms, and family kitchens where healing conversations begin and hope is rekindled.
At Embrace Village, we still see justice as something built from the ground up: when a child learns to trust, when a parent finds stability, when a community begins to see itself as capable of care. Each of these moments bends the arc a little further toward fairness and love.
What we’ve learned
This experience reminded us that good ideas need time to find their audience, and that persistence matters. We’ve also learned that the most transformative work is often the least visible — which makes it harder to fund, but no less essential.
As we deactivate this project, we do so with a clearer understanding of how to communicate our mission — focusing on storytelling that reveals the human texture of our work, and trusting that those who are meant to join us will find their way to our cause.
Still bending forward
Though this particular campaign will close, the work continues — through our family support programmes, early childhood education initiatives, and healing community work. Each of these efforts is part of the same long arc: the patient bending of injustice toward wholeness.
We are grateful to those who paused to read, to reflect, and to care. Even your awareness has weight. It keeps the arc moving in the right direction.
Thank you for standing with us — quietly, faithfully, courageously.
With gratitude and hope,
