With this project, we will be supporting single mothers and their daughters toward sustainability. Through life skills, vocational and business training, and seed funding, we help them build confidence, start small enterprises, and achieve independence. Together, we can break the cycle of poverty and create lasting change for women and their children in rural Nepal. This project aims to sustain over 50 single mothers with entrepreneurship & training!
Besides being from a poor country, Nepalese girls and women have less reach to education and income. Single mothers with dependant daughters are the most likely to be subjected to crippling poverty and exclusion. We have been supporting such families but it cannot go forever and there is no guarantee that the children will take care of their mothers. As daughters marry or go away, the mothers remain lonely and without support!
Bahini Educare Foundation will provide these single mothers with trainings and classes on numbers, business functioning and sustainability. We will help them set up SME business like agriculture, animal husbandry (goats, buffalo, cows and chickens), and other small business (tea shops, inns, etc.). This will make these women empowered and help provide for their families. This is sustainability at best, the children will at the same time help the other while learning themselves.
25 Nepalese Single women (and as many as 100 family members) will directly benefit from this project. The families will be self sufficient with in a few year. It will also break the cycle of extreme poverty and provide them with a sense of self-worth. Furthermore after the children are taking care of themselves, these mothers will have something to rely on and definitely have a secured future!
