Help fund transport for OYO to reach schools

As you know, the Ombetja Yehinga Organisation (OYO) is a Namibian NGO that uses Arts to create social awareness.

End of 2023, we started a campaign to try and raise fund for a much-needed car. If you know us, you know we work tirelessly to reach young people, especially in remote area. However, to be able to reach students in school or young people in the field, we need transport. 

Since the beginning of the year, the situation has been made more difficult for us. Many of you know that we had two contracts with two institutions receiving USAID money. Mid-January 2025 all USAID-funded projects were put on hold with immediate effect. Mid-March, those projects were officially terminated. In January, there was not warnings: overnight, we lost 60% of our budget. It has been a terrible blow to the organization. 

Unfortunately for us, payments such as the reimbursement of the loan have not been paused. Since end January, we are really struggling to make month end meet. But we are trying our best and even launched in February a more intensive fundraising campaign. We truly thank all of you who participated. To date, we have managed to keep up with our payments, so the car we got a loan for is still with us. 

We will keep this page opened for as long as it takes to pay for the new car – the loan is for 5 years. If you know anybody who can support us, please do share with them. We still struggle with transport, but we are grateful for the support we receive.
