Hi Everyone!
Since this project started and even with the battle of COVID closing down government offices, we have still registered 450 children with the local authorities to obtain a birth certificate. So many children across Zimbabwe are born and never registered and while as a small newborn this is okay when it comes to being sick and they need a public doctor as they have no money for private care they are turned away as they do not exist in the eyes of the government.
Later when they want to go to school, they can't again as they are not known to the government and then if they do break the mold and get a good education they can't change their own country as they have no right to vote. While it is free to register a child it comes with lots of paperwork and then we must transport them to the government offices.
Currently we have over 2,000 children in care that are not registered and with the support of a local team it costs us $25 to prepare the paperwork and cover the cost of transport for the child and chaperon to go to government office. It's just $25 and they can then access medical care, go to school and officially be a part of their country.
This gift is really life changing and already with your donations we have registered over 400 children and we hope to many more in 2023! Thank you for your support over the past two years
Thank You!
