Hi Everyone!
We have registered 450 kids with the community authorities since the project began so they can get birth certificates. So many babies are born in Zimbabwe without ever being registered, which is acceptable for a small newborn, but when they get sick and need to see a public doctor because they can't afford private care, they are turned away because they don't exist in the eyes of the government.
Once they break the mould and obtain a good education, they are unable to change their own country because they lack voting rights. Later, when they want to attend school, they are prevented from doing so because the government is unaware of them. It costs nothing to register a child, but there is a tonne of paperwork, and we then have to take the child to the government offices.
With the help of a local team, we prepare the paperwork and pay for the child's and chaperone's transportation to the government office for the over 2,000 children currently in our care who are not registered. They can then get access to healthcare, attend school, and formally become citizens of their country for just $25.
With your donations, we have so far registered more than 400 children, and we hope to register many more in 2023.
Thank You!
