Hello Friends and Family,
Life in Zimbabwe I assume is like most places right now, high prices and even higher poverty and homelessness. While we lack many services in Zimbabwe the state to provide a small lifeline through education and schooling that we know is over subscribed, limited and often miles away from rural communities.
However many of the children we work with (over 10,000) were born at home or in an unregistered clinic and as such the childrens' birth was never registered with the government and with no identity these children can not access school, healthcare or any other form of limited governent support. While our ideal world would be to provide schooling and medical support to everyone, our fundraising efforts simply don't stretch that far, therefore with this project we focus on getting children registered and then assist them with enrollment into a school and medical clinic.
We have to date registered 492 children out of the 10,000 and we are ready to help more as soon as we raise more funding. The actual registration is free however $13 covers the cost of a taxi and an adult to accompany the child to the Capital where they spend the day in a line to register the child for an ID card. We have a mini bus taxi company we use and as such can register 12 children a day if we have the funding.
Thank you for supporting us!
