Give a Child Identity: Birth Registration Africa

Thanks to your incredible support, our program to register vulnerable children in Africa continues to make a life-changing difference. Each birth registration gives a child a legal identity — the key to education, healthcare, and protection — and your donations make that possible.

What’s been happening:
Over the past few months, we’ve been working hard to identify children in need, particularly girls who face the greatest barriers due to gender inequality. Many girls are not registered at birth because traditional norms prioritize boys, and women often lack control over family documents or access to government services. By focusing on these children, we aim to break cycles of disadvantage and give them opportunities to thrive.

Recent milestones:

• We’ve registered over 650 children to date, with hundreds more still waiting.

• Our team has supported group registrations for orphans and vulnerable children in care, making the process safe and efficient.

• Children now have access to school, healthcare, and legal protection — some for the first time in their lives.

Challenges we face:
Donations have slowed recently, which limits how many children we can reach. Tracking down vulnerable families, preparing paperwork, and ensuring safe transport takes time and resources, and we can’t always reach everyone as quickly as we’d like. But our dedicated local team continues to work tirelessly to make every registration a success.
