Hello Friends,
We are thrilled to share an update on our project aimed at the support in saving African elephants! Your contribution is making a significant impact in their conservation.
In the Dja Faunal Reserve, an essential forest block in the Congo Basin, AWF is addressing threats such as unplanned mining, logging, and agricultural clearance.
Recent census data shows that the forest elephant population in the area has stabilized, with 223 individuals in 2021 compared to 219 in 2018.AWF focuses on Bili-Uele and Lomako landscapes, even though forest elephants are rare there. Efforts include improved monitoring and collaboration with local authorities to protect their habitat works with communities to address human-elephant conflict.
By empowering locals and raising awareness, we create a sustainable path for elephant conservation. Our team are guided by the local community to ensure maximum engagement and work with them to build a long term sustainable solution
Your commitment helps ensure that future generations can witness these magnificent animals in the wild. Together, we can protect and save Africa’s elephants!
Thank you for being part of this vital mission!
Warm Regards Lloyd
