To our supporters,
African elephants are facing unprecedented threats that have led to a significant decline in their populations. Over the past century, approximately 90% of African elephants have been lost due to poaching and habitat destruction. The illegal ivory trade continues to drive poaching, while climate change and human activities further degrade their habitats. If immediate action is not taken, future generations may never witness these majestic creatures roaming freely in the wild.
Our project aims to combat these challenges through community engagement, sustainable tourism promotion, and direct conservation efforts. With a total funding goal of £3,666, we currently have £968 remaining to reach our target. Thanks to the generous support of 48 donors, including 1 monthly donor and 1 fundraiser, we have made significant progress over the past four years.
African elephants are endangered due to several interrelated factors: poaching, habitat loss, Human-elephant conflict and climate change. However, we focus on addressing these challenged through community outreach, sustainable tourism and protection and rehabilitation.By fostering community involvement and promoting sustainable practices, we aim to create a self-sustaining model for elephant conservation. Continuous monitoring and research will enable us to adapt our strategies effectively, ensuring the long-term survival of African elephants.
Our project updates:
1. Community Engagement Initiatives - We have conducted workshops in local villages, reaching over 200 community members. These workshops focus on the significance of elephants in the ecosystem and strategies to mitigate human-elephant conflicts.
2. Sustainable Tourism Development - Collaborating with local tour operators, we have developed eco-friendly tourism packages that educate visitors on elephant conservation. This initiative has generated additional income for local communities, providing economic incentives to protect elephant habitats.
3. Anti-Poaching Measures - Our partnership with local law enforcement has led to increased patrols in vulnerable areas. This collaboration has resulted in a noticeable decrease in poaching incidents over the past year.
4. Elephant Monitoring and Rehabilitation - We have successfully rehabilitated and released three injured elephants back into the wild. Ongoing monitoring indicates that these individuals are adapting well and reintegrating into their herds.
Your support is crucial in continuing our mission to protect African elephants. Contributions fund educational programs, anti-poaching patrols, and rehabilitation efforts. Together, we can make a significant impact and ensure that these magnificent creatures thrive for generations to come.
Thank you!
