Dear PEPY Friends and Family,
We are pleased to introduce you to our Dream Management Project. Our project has been operating for over a decade in Siem Reap Province to provide higher education pathways to rural high school students. In our target areas, young people and their families do not see many opportunities for themselves outside of construction work, agriculture, and migrating legally/illegally to Thailand. As a result, education is not valued and dropout rates are high.
Our Dream team makes sure rural high school students know all the possible futures and career paths available to them if they stay in school. Our elective Dream classes are operated in our partner high schools which are located in some of the most rural and remote communities in our province. We support students in Grades 10, 11, and 12 (pivotal years when the majority of youth drop out) by providing them a forum to identify challenges they may need to overcome and to work on developing themselves, their future goals, and their communities. Our Dream Officers provide them with career resources, mentorship, soft skill training, scholarships, and networking opportunities.
Over the past few months, we are so pleased to see so many positive changes and developments in our Dream Project. This quarter, we had over 950 students in Grades 10-12 attending our classes regularly! Our attendance rates are higher compared to last year, with some class attendance rates nearly reaching 100%!
Our Dream Officers conducted at least four lessons per grade focused on self-discovery, goal setting, presenting, teamwork, leadership, financial literacy, how to fill out scholarship applications, and how to do an interview.
Additionally, in our partner high school, Varin, we organized the first Sharing Event of the year with over 500 attendees! The event featured speakers focused on self-development and the importance of education. We are looking forward to bringing more inspiring speakers to Dream in the coming months!
While the Dream Project sites are running smoothly this year, we are facing many financial challenges and setbacks. One of our partner schools is currently operating with no funds. We need your support to cover our team members’ salaries, school workshops, and key events.
Any amount you could contribute would be greatly appreciated!
