A busy season in Animal Welfare

A Busy Season in Animal Welfare-Colobus Conservation

 

  1. August

In the month of August, Colobus Conservation attended to a total of 30 cases.

  • Sykes: 14
  • Colobus: 9
  • Vervet: 4
  • Baboons: 3
  1. Mentionable results.

2 Adult colobus monkeys were treated and released back into their natural habitat.

We got an infant sykes monkey that had been abandoned in Malindi, near the Gede ruins and was brought to us, he was entered into long-term rehabilitation.

 

  1. September

In September, we got a total of 18 cases

  • Colobus:9
  • Sykes:5
  • Vervets:2
  • Baboons:2
  1. Mentionable results.

We were able to rescue an abandoned baboon infant that was left behind by his mother and we re-united him with his troop.

We got our first vervet infant of the season and he was entered into long-term rehabilitation.

We got a sick adult male Colobus that was treated and finally released back into his troop.

Black and White infant colobus that had been left behind by his troop was re-united with the troop.

  1. October

In October the number of cases attended to by Colobus Conservation reduced to 11 cases.

  • Vervet:1
  1. Mentionable results

An adult male Sykes who had a broken mid shaft femur of the left leg which was amputated, recovered fully and was released back into the wild.
