Key Developments – Last Three Months
Over the past three months, RACI consolidated a new phase of strategic positioning and reflection, combining international leadership, knowledge production, and a forward-looking agenda aimed at strengthening collective action and sustainability within civil society.
International Leadership and Global Engagement
Guillermo Correa, Executive Director of RACI, was appointed as the new Board Chair of the International Association for Volunteer Effort (IAVE), with his mandate beginning in March 2026. This appointment comes at a pivotal moment for the global volunteering ecosystem, ahead of the International Year of Volunteering 2026, and highlights the relevance of networked action, participation, and collective engagement in sustaining communities worldwide.
Knowledge Production and Sectoral Analysis
As part of the Reimagining the Future of Civil Society program, RACI developed a new mapping of 38 global, regional, and local initiatives that are rethinking how civil society organizes, finances, and collaborates. Rather than classifying or ranking experiences, the mapping adopts a systemic perspective to identify shared patterns, emerging trends, and signals of change shaping the reconfiguration of civil society. The document is shared as an open resource to foster collective learning, articulation, and networked action.
From Uncertainty to Strategic Projection
The period was also marked by critical reflection on the broader context facing civil society. Amid ongoing crises, funding cuts, and structural pressures, many organizations have been operating in reactive modes, prioritizing resilience and short-term adaptation. Against this backdrop, RACI defined 2026 as a turning point — a moment to move beyond reactivity and reassert the capacity to project, experiment, and collectively shape the future of civil society. Under the guiding principle “Construir futuro” (Building the Future), RACI will focus on strengthening collaboration within the network, generating practical tools for action, expanding shared learning spaces, exploring new pathways for sustainability, and amplifying narratives that highlight the sector’s value and transformative potential.
Evidence for Decision-Making and Advocacy
In partnership with Charities Aid Foundation (CAF), RACI launched a new report within the framework of the World Giving Report 2025, analyzing the current conditions of civil society organizations in Argentina. The study provides key data on the main challenges facing the sector in a context of economic volatility, declining international funding, and increasing pressures on organizational sustainability. By offering strategic evidence, the report seeks to support reflection, planning, and the strengthening of civil society work across the country.
