We warmly invite you to donate generously on July 16th for the 2025 JULY BONUS DAY.
GlobalGiving will proportionally match all donations over $100. This is a wonderful opportunity to give open-heartedly and with joy to children who will express their gratitude by reaching their full potential.
Tasneem's Visit
Tasneem is our project manager, working closely with Nirman—our partner organization in India—to bring this project to life. She is employed by Karuna Germany and lives in Berlin with her husband and two daughters.
Here, she shares insights from her recent project visit in June:
"Nothing is more rewarding than witnessing real change on the ground. During my recent visit to the Savitri Nirman Project in Satara, Maharashtra, I saw firsthand how simple tools—activity centres with dedicated teachers and basic resources—are transforming the lives of children from Denotified and Nomadic Tribes (DNT/NT).
These children, often seen performing or selling on the streets, are not just from economically poor backgrounds—they belong to communities historically pushed to society’s margins. Branded as "criminal tribes" under colonial law, their struggles continue today: limited education, insecure livelihoods, and systemic exclusion.
But change is happening.
Thanks to our donor's support, ten activity centres (five main and five satellite) are now offering these children a place to learn, play, and dream. I visited eight of them—each buzzing with energy. Children were excited to recite in English and Marathi, demonstrate games like carrom and badminton, and proudly speak about their rights. Their confidence and joy were unmistakable.
Mothers shared how their children now have purpose, structure, and a safe space to grow. Teachers—many working part-time but full of passion—guide them through reading, sports, and even computer literacy.
What touched me most? The children knew their rights. They spoke about education, wellbeing, and even recited emergency helpline numbers. Many urban children may not know these, yet here, these often-overlooked children are becoming empowered, aware, and ready for a better future.
The Savitri Nirman Project is not just about education—it's about dignity, inclusion, and hope. And it’s working."
Make a difference—give generously with joy on 16th July!
