Summary

In Ukraine, over 500,000 children and adolescents attend schools located in areas contaminated with landmines and unexploded ordnance (UXO). Every day, a child is killed or injured after handling one of these devices, often mistaken for toys. Our project combines virtual reality, participatory theater, and artificial intelligence to teach them how to stay safe. Beyond education, we also identify vulnerabilities and inequalities among participants. With your support, we can save lives

Challenge

Currently, 65% of child victims touch or step on explosive devices without realizing the danger, and 40% of incidents occur on the way to school, in playgrounds, or inside schools. Our challenge is to reduce this exposure through modern, advanced, and inclusive education, aiming for maximum effectiveness. Studies show that children who engage in games and practical simulations identify 90% more danger signs than those who only attend theoretical classes, significantly improving safety and preven

Solution

The solution combines virtual reality, participatory theater, inclusive pedagogy, and artificial intelligence to teach children how to protect themselves from landmines. Its dual format (in-person and digital) ensures access for children with disabilities and those whose schools have been destroyed. In addition to preventing accidents, it helps detect inequality, gender-based violence, and emotional distress through psychological analysis and group dynamics.

Long-Term Impact

By understanding the risks of mines and unexploded ordnance UXO, children reduce anxiety and long-term emotional trauma as they grow. They also become agents of change by sharing what they learn with their families and local communities. This educational impact strengthens child protection, fosters community resilience, and promotes safer development, supporting long-term social and economic recovery.
