Dear Friends,
Greetings from Sukriti Social Foundation!
Your support has healed Riswanth
Latha, a resident of Chennai, was filled with joy and anticipation when she gave birth to her son, Rishvanth, at the Government Children’s Hospital. But that joy quickly turned into fear when doctors noticed something unusual — a deformity in his tiny ankle. Later, she would learn it was a condition called clubfoot.
As a first-time mother at 36, the diagnosis was heartbreaking. She had waited so long for this moment — to cradle her baby, to watch his first steps — and now, that future seemed uncertain. At home, things grew even harder. Her husband, unable to cope with the stress and shock, found refuge in alcohol, leaving Latha to carry the emotional and physical burden alone.
But Latha refused to give up.
Rishvanth’s journey to healing began with round after round of plaster casts and eventually, a surgery. After that, he was referred to us for corrective shoes. The early days were a struggle — the shoes were uncomfortable, and little Rishvanth often cried. But Latha, fuelled by fierce love and determination, never missed a single appointment. Every fifteen days, for five long years, she brought him in — through rain, heat, and hardship — ensuring his shoes were replaced as he grew, never wavering in her resolve.
That unwavering dedication paid off. Today, Rishvanth walks tall, runs freely, and beams with confidence. Now a bright fourth grader, he doesn’t just walk — he races through life. Latha laughs as she says, “He runs more than he walks — I can’t even catch him anymore!”
Their journey is a testament to the power of a mother’s love, early medical care, and the support of people like you.
Thanks to your generosity, a little boy can run, laugh, and dream — and a mother can finally exhale with joy.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for making this possible.
At Sukriti we have reached out to 212 children during the current reporting period.
The need is increasing day by day and we need more financial support to ensure that no child is deprived of the world class rehabilitation service just because they can not afford it.
In order to bridge the funding gap we are participating in GlobalGiving's July Bonus Day that is falling on July 16th. Your $100 donation will be matched by GlobalGiving.
Do continue to support us and help us prevent more children from life long disablity.
Thanking you once again
With best regards
Sowmya Simhan
