Across Indonesia, young people-especially young women and those from marginalized communities-are excluded from decisions affecting their futures. Government policies on education, health, and climate are designed without youth input. Rural, indigenous, and low-income youth face the greatest barriers: no platforms to share insights, no advocacy training, and no pathways to engage policymakers. The result is a generation feeling powerless and a democracy weakened by their absence.
We train young Indonesians in advocacy, leadership, and civic engagement - in their local languages. Youth attend workshops to build capacity and participate in issue-specific online competitions to vet their ideas. We facilitate policy dialogues connecting young people with government officials to co-create solutions that improve the lives and well-being of young people. We evaluate and document outcomes, building evidence that demonstrates why youth inclusion strengthens governance nationwide.
Trained youth become lifelong change agents. Officials experiencing productive dialogues continue to seek youth input and communities benefit from responsive policies. Annually, we directly engage 150,000 young people through capacity-building workshops, civic issue wikithons, and policy dialogues. To date, we've reached 5 million Indonesians in 4 provinces. We're building a democratic culture where youth participation strengthens the nation -and models youth-powered democracy for the world.
