With the immediate withdrawal of USAID, we have been approached by many partners in urgent need of help. Many fear for their own and their childrens' health. The cuts are severely disrupting medical supplies to health facilities. Without supplies, clinics are closing creating immediate job losses for health workers. Without an income children can no longer be fed or attend school. Women, girls and the vulnerable are most affected. A ripple effect leaving lives on the line.
USAID cuts have hit communities hard. Their funds purchased syringes, life saving vaccines for measles, polio, HPV ,Rotavirus and many more types of vaccines and medicines. There will be no healthcare follow ups, no health education, nobody to create awareness on maternal and child health. Whole malaria kits were provided by USAID, nets and tablets. Same with TB testing, HIV medication and testing. Vitamin A and Iron for Mothers and more . Withdrawal was immediate with no notice. DEVASTATING.
We've helped establish 79 community units providing 385,000 people with better health. The shock withdrawal of USAID funds threatens to reverse progress. We can help bridge the gap with an infrastructure in place to help. Community Health Promoters support mothers & babies, people with HIV/AIDs, malaria prevention, improved nutrition. Without funds these services will no longer be supported to the extent needed. This project will help ensure as many as possible continue to be supported.
USAID cuts threaten health, livelihoods & futures of thousands of families putting lives on the line. Women & babies at risk during childbirth, children unable to access life-saving vaccines, communities without access to food and clean water, people living with HIV/AIDS denied treatment. The impact will not only be felt by Kenyan communities but will ripple beyond borders, e.g. diseases once controlled by vaccines will spread with global impact. This project helps limit the damage in long term.
