Protecting Children in Zimbabwe is an Urgent Need

By Lloyd | Zimbabwe Team

Dear Donors,

In Zimbabwe, child protection remains a pressing concern. With around 50% of child births going unregistered, it becomes challenging for the state to track and safeguard these vulnerable children. The statistics are alarming: two in three children in Zimbabwe experience violence or abuse during their childhood. The United Nations reports that one in three girls under 18 faces sexual violence, often leading to teen pregnancy and early marriage

Our school in rural Zimbabwe is a safe house for victims of abuse, children who are orphans and other children where living with their families is simply not an option. Providing accommodation, homes, foster parents as well as dedicated teaching staff to smaller classes we work hard to ensure the support and protection is provided to every single child in our care. Unlike big children's homes our priority is smaller care through foster parents, teachers, pastrol care workers, social workers and other support programs in place to ensure we provide a full rehabilitaiton program and high quailty education to these children.

Your donations help fund professional staff, cover the cost of living for these children including 3 meals a day 7 days a week, we also use donations to help fund text books, stationery, clothing and school uniforms to help these children feel part of a normal life.

We still need more donations so we are able to fund more specialist treatment for the children that have been through extreme abuse, we have also in the past when donations was higher funded art therapist, horse and dog therapy along with other methods that for some children made a huge life changing differnece.

Sadly due to the current economic climate we recently most an incredble corporate sponsor that was funding over $3,000 USD a month which covered 2 staff salaries, 1 mental health worker and funded our monthly stationery costs at the school. We are not sure what we will be able to do moving forward and so our team are busy trying to find someone else to support us so we don't loose our staff and are forced to grow our class sizes as this would be a huge set back for our children.

We thank you for your support and standing beside us

Thank You,

Lloyd
