This second report aims to present and describe the situation of displaced people living on the buildings of the Pierre Labitrie communal school in Delmas 31, and how they have been supported with food kits through a second grant from GlobalGiving.
To provide support to displaced persons living in camps, the Action and Transformation Coordination Unit mobilized volunteers. Several awareness-raising sessions were organized, and the volunteers mobilized are well versed in the tasks assigned to them. So, after several working sessions, we had more concrete information about the composition of the targeted camp.
The camp is housing displaced people according to:
1. - Breakdown by age group and gender:
Age range Boys Girls Total
0 to 11 months 25 33 58

12 to 17 years 98 105 203

60 yearsand over 95 103 198
2 - Other specific categories:
- Pregnant women: 4
- Nursing mothers: 15
- Responsible children: 6
- Responsible women: 67
- People with disabilities: 13
- Injured persons: 6
During the distribution of the kits, particular attention was paid to pregnant and breastfeeding women, people with injuries or disabilities, and children and women leaders identified on site.
We would like to express our deep gratitude to GlobalGiving for this support, which now represents 14% of total project costs, but which is very significant because it has enabled Action et Transformation to come to the aid of people who have been forced to move from their homes. So, we have been able to give food kits to 412 families out of the 740 that this reception camp now has, and 328 families, or 1,214, are still waiting to receive their support in food kits, not forgetting the hygiene kits that will be very useful to them.
To this end, the Action et Transformation coordination had mobilized the volunteers, then informed them on how to proceed with the distribution of the kits to the displaced families. Four hundred and twelve (412) families, an average of 1,648 people each received a food kit out of 2,862. Dear donors, your support has had a considerable effect on the community, and particularly on this category which is suffering so much. The following images show the distribution and reception of the kits by the beneficiaries.
