The smile of Khaled amidst the destruction: A warm meal brings hope

By HASAN SADIK | project leader

Dear Donor,

In besieged Gaza, where suffering grows day by day, humanitarian needs are escalating as the blessed month of Ramadan approaches—a month of love and solidarity, when we remember the struggles of the poor and feel their pain. This year, Ramadan arrives burdened with sorrow, as thousands of families have lost their homes and loved ones, struggling to secure their daily sustenance amidst destruction and ongoing displacement.

Thanks to your support, we were able to bring a smile to the face of little Khaled by providing him and his family with a hot meal of rice and chicken in the Shuja'iyya camp, north of Gaza. This simple meal was a moment of warmth amid the harsh reality they endure. Khaled and his family barely escaped certain death when their home was directly bombed. However, his older brother, Mohammed, was not as fortunate—he lost his life under the rubble. Khaled’s family lost their home and shelter, beginning a painful journey of displacement, constantly pursued by fear and hunger.

As Ramadan approaches, the need for intensified donations grows. Thousands of families like Khaled’s are waiting for a helping hand to provide them with a meal to ease their hunger, a tent to shelter them, and a glimmer of hope to keep them going. Your generosity is their only lifeline, enabling us to deliver essential food aid to those who need it most.

Thank you for your compassionate hearts that bring hope to those in need and make Ramadan a true season of giving.
