Strengthening and Nurturing Women in Need

Dear Friend,

House of Hope is a shelter home for battered women who are in crisis. It is helping women who are sexually abused or have run away from families, having marital conflicts; emotional imbalance, depression and are in need of help and guidance. Our rehabilitation program provides food, shelter, clothing, counselling, legal aid, job opportunities, educational assistance, vocational training, and family reunification for these hapless victims of domestic abuse and violence.

Recently we had a case referred by a police, of a woman from North Goa, who was mentally disturbed. Upon entering our shelter home, we made her feel comfortable and provided her with medical assistance. Then a counselling session was arranged to understand the exact cause of her situation and to bring her out of the trauma that she was going through so many days. Through the counselling session, it was known that the husband was the main culprit to destroy her peaceful and happy family life. He did this to make a way out to have an extra-marital affair. She was harassed, tortured, and thrown out of the house. She was trying to figure out a way, where she can get help but unfortunately she had to spend days on the street. Night patrolling by police has helped Rajeshree (name changed) to get an opportunity to enter a shelter of Hope.

House of Hope has given an opportunity to Rajashree to take up a vocational training course, wherein now she is learning tailoring, hand knitting, and embroidery designs. As a part of occupational skills we are teaching Rajeshree, and other women at our shelter, makes them more self-sufficient and prevent them from being dependent on anyone else. By learning a marketable skill, these women will generate income and lift themselves out of poverty. Thank you for your support!
