Helping the Homeless with Hope and Dignity

By Julia Matthew | Managing Director

Dear Patron,

Homelessness in India is a significant social issue, affecting millions of people across urban and rural areas. Homeless individuals in India often lack access to basic necessities such as shelter, clean water, sanitation, and healthcare. The causes of homelessness are complex and multifaceted, including poverty, unemployment, migration, natural disasters, and lack of affordable housing.

Homeless people in India often live in extremely precarious conditions. Many sleep on pavements, under bridges, at railway stations, or in temporary shelters. Access to sanitation, healthcare, and education is limited. Vulnerability to crime, exploitation, and health issues is high.

El Shaddai Charitable trust strives to aid all such homeless men and women and has opened homes like “House of Hope and Verna House” where the Homeless can find hope which begins with a meal, a shelter, and a caring heart."

The women from the “Hope of Hope” shelter have found a new family, a place they can call their home. They spend their time cooking together and learning vocational skills like tailoring, crochet, flower and doll making. These skills will help in  fostering greater adaptability in a changing world, boosts confidence by overcoming challenges, and provides a sense of accomplishment and purpose.

We have a story of a woman named Rakhi (name changed). She escaped from an abusive home and sought refuge on the streets. There she was battling loneliness and fear. Our outreach workers met her and guided her to our woman’s shelter. Here with the help of counselling and guidance she has managed to change her life to a better one.

We the El Shaddai family are grateful for aiding us in this cause of changing lives for the Homeless and we extend our heartfelt gratitude for making dreams to come true.

"Together, we can give hope, dignity, and a new beginning."

With Gratitude

El Shaddai Family
