Dear Donors,
We wish to share an updated overview of our ongoing hunger relief efforts under the Lifeline for Equality: Hunger Relief Fund. The needs within the LGBTIQ community continue to shift, and many individuals still face severe food insecurity linked to discrimination, unemployment, and displacement.
In recent weeks, we have seen a noticeable rise in requests for food assistance, especially from people who have recently fled unsafe homes or community violence. We are also supporting several individuals who lost their casual jobs due to continued stigma, leaving them without the means to meet basic daily needs. For those living with HIV, this situation is especially dangerous, as proper nutrition remains essential for maintaining treatment and overall health.
Despite these challenges, our team continues to distribute food relief packages where the need is most urgent. We have expanded our outreach to include more rural areas, where support is often limited and LGBTIQ individuals face even greater isolation. These distributions now include maize flour, beans, rice, and basic household supplies to help stabilize families and individuals navigating difficult circumstances.
However, the pressure on our program has increased. Rising food prices, long distances to rural areas, and a growing number of emergency calls have stretched our resources further than expected. Without renewed financial support, we risk being unable to respond quickly to new cases or sustain the level of relief currently required.
As we move forward, we aim to strengthen this project with a renewed focus on transgender women, LGBTIQ youth, and rural households, who continue to be the most affected by hunger and economic hardship. Your contribution directly supports their survival and restores dignity where it has been denied.
We remain grateful for your continued partnership. Your support helps ensure that no one in our community is left to face hunger alone.
