2022 Annual Report & ILGA World Database Launch

Hi Everyone

Your support is truly meaningful to ILGA World's mission

To act as a leading organisation and a global voice for the rights of those who face discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation, gendervidentity, gender expression and/or sex characteristics (SOGIESC).
To work towards achieving equality, freedom and justice for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex people through advocacy, collaborative actions, and by educating and informing relevant international and regional institutions as well as governments, media and civil society.
To empower our members and other human rights organisations in promoting and protecting human rights, irrespective of people’s sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression and/or sex characteristics and to facilitate cooperation and solidarity among ILGA regions and members.
To promote the diversity and strengths of persons of diverse SOGIESC around the world.

Throughout 2022, we did just that and you can learn more about it through our 2022 Annual Report (available in English and Spanish).

From the start of 2023 to the end of June, ILGA World lead a series of activities. We launched the ILGA World Database in March. A unique knowledge base on laws, human rights bodies, advocacy opportunities, and news related to sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and sex characteristics issues worldwide.

ILGA World worked with the local host organizations of the 2024 ILGA World Conference, Iranti and Gender DynamiX, to launch the conference theme, Kwa umoja we rise! You can learn more about our next conference here.

Globally, ILGA World and its partners have seen substantially and concerning increases in anti-rights actions and anti-LGBT legislation being presented or approved as law. Our organization has been tracking these actions with the ILGA World Monitor, documenting them in our database, providing support to LGBTI activists on hold to use this documentation to Counter Anti-Rights actions, and we have been establishing partnership projects and initiatives to deepen and resource our fight to ensure the human rights of all.

In June, we led a series of events at the United Nation's Human Rights Council session, including the Trans Advocacy Week co-organized with 5 other LGBTI-led NGOs.

We look forward to updating you soon on vital actions our organization is taking to support LGBTI-led organizations worldwide. Your donations allow us to continue to support LGBTI communities in over 170 countries.
