As this year comes to a close, we find ourselves reflecting on the moments when hope rose in Morocco’s High Atlas Mountains and across rural communities far beyond them. Each moment was different, yet each one began with someone who opened a door for change. Someone like YOU.
In 2025, hope rose in countless forms across Morocco. It appeared in the High Atlas Mountains, in villages rebuilding after the earthquake, and in the hearts of women and farmers striving to create opportunity for themselves and for the generations to follow.
We remember Fdila, who waited through the night after the earthquake, uncertain if help would ever arrive. At dawn, relief reached her village with food, clean water, and the essentials that carried her community through the earliest days of loss. Because of your support, her story stands as a reminder of how immediate support can restore the will to move forward.
We think of Amal, who joined a psychosocial empowerment workshop and discovered renewed confidence to grow her online business. In gaining her strength back, she encouraged her sister-in-law to begin her own healing and rebuilding.
We honor the quiet leadership of Si Larbi in the Aghbar Valley, who helped 22 villages regain safe shelter and clean water, a testament to how local leadership sustains whole regions.
Across the plains and mountains, hope also took root in the land itself.
In Ain Leuh, women rose before sunrise to nurture tens of thousands of young olive trees, trees that now support hundreds of farming families. In Ouarzazate and Talat-n-Mimoun, almonds and figs flourished where barren soil once stretched for miles.
And throughout communities still healing from the 2023 earthquake, empowerment workshops offered more than skills, they offered space to breathe, reflect, and rebuild inner strength.
These are not isolated moments. They are threads in a larger tapestry: one of rebuilding, of learning, of planting, of growing. They are the shared work of sustainable development, carried forward by communities, partners, and by you.
Hope has many names in the communities you touched this year.
And at every turn, hope is also you.
As we rise into a new year, our goals remain clear:
To expand relief and rebuilding for villages that continue to recover.
To equip farmers with fruit trees, irrigation systems, and sustainable agricultural training.
To support women with the tools, workshops, and opportunities to lead and earn.
To nurture nurseries, cooperatives, water systems, and healing spaces where hope can take root again and again.
Your year-end gift continues the cycle of growth, healing, and opportunity.
