Improving health of 500 Guatemalan school children

Hello Friends and Supporters of Mayanza,

As we celebrate the beginning of a new school year, we are thrilled to share the remarkable growth and progress of our programs in Santiago. What began as a small initiative serving 125 children in two schools has expanded to reach more than 1,000 children across six schools—a testament to the dedication of our team and the generosity of our supporters.

Each week, our teachers visit classrooms to provide interactive lessons on nutrition, hygiene, the importance of exercise, and disease prevention. These health education sessions empower children to make healthier choices and carry these lessons back to their families and communities.

In addition to education, our team conducts regular health assessments, measuring each child’s height and weight to monitor growth and well-being. We also provide anti-parasitic medication twice yearly, an essential step in improving overall health, attendance, and concentration in school.

Your support has made this expansion possible. Because of your generosity, hundreds more children are gaining the knowledge and care they need to thrive both inside and outside the classroom. As we begin this new academic year, we look forward to continuing this vital work and reaching even more children in the years ahead.
