Report Summary:
Humanity First Association of Cleaners (HUFAC-CAMEROON) is pleased to provide an update on the progress of the project "Improving Mental Well-being of IDPs in Cameroon" located in Kake-Kumba, South West Region of Cameroon. Since the previous report submitted on 29th January 2024, significant strides have been made despite limited financial resources. HUFAC-CAMEROON has been working diligently to alleviate the mental health challenges faced by internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the region.
Progress and Accomplishments:
With the generous donations received through the GlobalGiving platform, HUFAC-CAMEROON has been able to conduct 2 mental health awareness campaigns within the IDP community, providing crucial education on coping mechanisms and self-care practices. Additionally, 3 counseling sessions and group therapy sessions have been initiated to address the psychological trauma experienced by the IDPs. We were able to reach out to 35 beneficiaries. The project has also focused on promoting community engagement and support networks to foster resilience and emotional well-being among the displaced population.
Next Steps and Future Plans:
Moving forward, HUFAC-CAMEROON aims to continue expanding its mental health support services for IDPs in Kake-Kumba. The organization plans to utilize the remaining donations to further enhance mental health resources, implement vocational training programs, and establish sustainable initiatives to promote long-term mental well-being within the community. HUFAC-CAMEROON expresses gratitude to all donors for their invaluable support in making this project a reality and remains committed to improving the lives of IDPs in Cameroon.
