Three months after devastating floods swept across northern India, Pakistan, and Kashmir in August, many communities are still in the early stages of recovery, working together to source food, water, and shelter for their displaced community members.

The 2025 monsoon season was one of the most severe in decades,  with heavy rains and overflowing rivers killing hundreds of people and displacing millions across India, Pakistan, and Kashmir. As climate change intensifies seasonal storms, many communities now face recurring flooding year after year.

Because of this, support for community-led nonprofits is essential as they work on both immediate relief and longer-term solutions. Your support has already fueled three new grants to trusted, community-led organizations doing just that in Pakistan now.

Here are a few of the vital efforts you have made possible:

  • Association For Women's Awareness and Rural Development (AWARD Pakistan) supports women living in rural and historically under-resourced regions through livelihood restoration initiatives. After conducting community needs assessments in Jhang, Multan, and Muzaffargarh districts, AWARD is providing food packages, tents, bedding, and other essential items to more than 650 families.
  • Association for Humanitarian Development (AHD) provides clean water, skills training, solar energy, and climate change solutions to rural and under-resourced communities in Pakistan. AHD is distributing water filters, food items, mosquito nets, tents, and health kits to flood-affected communities. To increase rural communities' resilience to ongoing climate change, AHD is also advocating for improved water sanitation systems and infrastructure across flood-prone areas.
  • National Disability & Development Forum (NDF) has an extensive history of responding to disaster events and supporting recovery in some of Pakistan’s most vulnerable communities. Currently, NDF is providing food and clean water, essential items, temporary shelter, as well as psychological support and healthcare to flood-affected families, especially to women, children, and individuals living with disabilities.

Your support of the GlobalGiving India-Pakistan Relief Fundbolsters community-led responses like these. With flood-impacted regions experiencing pre-existing crises of conflict and hunger, support throughout the duration of recovery remains urgent and necessary.

We thank you again for your continued support. Your solidarity means the world.

With  gratitude,

Alli + The GlobalGiving Team

About GlobalGiving’s Disaster Response

When a disaster strikes, recovery efforts led by people who live and work in affected communities are often overlooked and underfunded. GlobalGiving is changing this reality. Since 2004, we've been shifting decision-making power to crises-affected communities through trust-based grantmaking and support.

We make it easy, quick, and safe to support people on the ground who understand needs in their communities better than anyone else.

They were there long before the news cameras arrived, and they’ll be there long after the cameras leave. They know how to make their communities more resilient to future disasters, and they’re already hard at work. GlobalGiving puts donations and grants directly into their hands. Because the status quo—which gives the vast majority of funding to a few large organizations—doesn’t make sense.
